2020 South Dakota Airports Conference

Did you know there are more than 70 airports in South Dakota and KLJ currently serves nearly 20 of them?

Whether used for regional or general aviation purposes, airports serve a critical transportation function for South Dakota communities. South Dakota Department of Transportation is hosting their annual Airports Conference March 11-12 in Rapid City to bring airport managers, staff, and consultants together with state and federal officials to exchange information and identify opportunities for continued and enhanced airport operations.

On March 11, KLJ’s Charlie Baker and Mason Short will provide an overview of the Williston Basin International Airport, a significant regional airport relocation project that was completed in October 2019 after nearly 8 years of planning, design, and construction. On March 12, Rod Senn and Tom Schauer will discuss how to build an effective Capital Improvement Plan, which is a critical tool for identifying and prioritizing airport needs and improvements.

KLJ knows aviation! We are excited to attend the 2020 South Dakota Airports Conference and look forward to the opportunity to share best practices and insight to help airports – of all sizes – grow and thrive in South Dakota.
