Allan Schafer is Retiring
KLJ announces the retirement of Allan Schafer, a GIS specialist following more than 25 years of professional experience.
Based in North Dakota, Schafer served as a planner, GIS and CAD specialist, providing technical expertise across a wide range of projects. His experience included base map and LiDAR compilation, coordinate systems, map exhibit creation, and the development of 2D and 3D airspace surface layers. He also supported runway safety area planning, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and airport layout plan obstruction mapping, and the creation of 3D terrain models and fly-through visualizations. Throughout his career, he supported aviation planning municipal, transportation, oil field services, survey, water resources, environmental, and telecommunications services at KLJ.
Schafer holds FAA Airports GIS-Integrated Distance Learning Environment (AGIS-IDLE) Level 3 certification and earned an associate degree in architectural drafting and estimating technology from North Dakota State College of Science and was a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course.
“Allan’s technical depth, attention to detail and commitment to quality have had a lasting impact on our aviation team and the clients we serve,” shared Curt Cady, KLJ aviation team leader. “His contributions have helped elevate our GIS capabilities, and he will be greatly missed by colleagues and partners alike.”
