The Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health Building and the expansion of the Bismarck Public Works Facility represent a significant investment in the city's public infrastructure. Situated in south Bismarck, this notable project aimed to enhance the city's capacity to provide essential services. The development not only included the construction of a new Public Health building but also saw a substantial expansion of the Public Works Facility, ensuring Bismarck is well-equipped to meet its growing needs.
SOLUTION
As a leader in engineering and infrastructure solutions, KLJ played a pivotal role in the development of the new Public Health building and the expansion of the Public Works Facility in Bismarck. Our comprehensive services included conducting detailed topographic surveys, designing the layout of the 30-acre site, and providing structural engineering for various new structures such as the 22,408 square foot Public Health building, a 3,830 square foot addition to the existing Public Works building, a 62,870 square foot Roads and Streets facility, a 3,474 square foot Wash Bay, 1,075 square foot Brine building, a 23,785 square foot Controlled Storage building, and a 100-foot by 144-foot salt/sand storage enclosure.
KLJ also coordinated the placement of fueling islands and brine storage tanks, designed essential utilities including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems, and assisted with construction administration from 2022 to 2024, ensuring the project’s successful completion.

Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health and Bismarck Public Works are government entities dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the essential infrastructure and services that ensure the welfare and quality of life for residents. The expansion project was vital to support day-to-day operations, providing additional space, improved functionality, and new features.
