PROJECT

Surveying services were required for a transmission line within a new transmission corridor, beginning at the Wilton substation near Bemidji, MN, tying into the existing Cass Lake Substation and terminating at the existing Boswell Substation switching station near Grand Rapids, MN. KLJ’s right-of-way (ROW) professionals, as well as the team from survey, worked closely to ensure specific project needs were met. KLJ performed surveying services including route control, aerial mapping ground control, staking of soil borings, additional topography for underground utilities, permits and crossings, section corner recovery, and construction staking of the preliminary and final structures.

SOLUTION

The project team provided turnkey services for a 230kV transmission line, including project management, title research, database management, document drafting, and assistance with permitting, scheduling, construction coordination, valuation coordination, siting, access support, laydown yard lease negotiations, and condemnation assistance.

RESULTS

The project is complete and the transmission line was energized in September 2012. KLJ coordinated with Otter Tail Power Company to scope a GIS database, interactive website, and final right-of-way platting services to track the project information.
