Federal Railroad Administration State of Good Repair Partnership Grants
The Federal Railroad Administration announces the availability of funding to assist in funding capital projects to repair, replace, or rehabilitate qualified railroad assets to reduce the state of good repair backlog and improve intercity passenger rail performance. Eligible projects include those that replace existing assets in-kind, replace existing assets with assets that increase capacity or provide a higher level of service, ensure that service can be maintained while existing assets be brought to a state of good repair, and/or bring existing assets into a state of good repair. Capital projects are defined as assets utilized for providing Intercity Passenger Rail service, including tunnels, bridges, and stations or a project primarily intended to improve Intercity Passenger Rail performance, including reduced trip times, increased train frequencies, and higher operating speeds.
Eligible Applicants: Counties, States, Cities, Towns, and Amtrak (acting on its own behalf or under a cooperative agreement with one or more states)
Maximum Grant Request: There are no predetermined minimum or maximum dollar thresholds. Total appropriation is $396 million.
Match: Federal share of total costs for a project shall not exceed 80 percent (20 percent non-federal match required). Selection preference will be given to projects in which federal share of total projects costs is 50 percent or less.
