South Dakota Department of Transportation announces the availability of 2021 Transportation Alternatives (TA) funds. This program includes Safe Routes to School, Scenic Byways, and Recreational Trails projects and activities that were previously eligible under the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), encompassing a variety of smaller-scale transportation projects such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, recreational trails, Safe Routes to Schools projects, community improvements such as historical preservation and vegetation management, and environmental mitigation related to stormwater and habitat connectivity.

Engineering New-Record (ENR) announced this week that KLJ has been named among the 2020 Top 500 Design Firms. The firm ranked 160, moving two numbers from the 2019 ranking. KLJ was evaluated based on revenue for design services performed in 2019.

The American Public Works Association (APWA) Rocky Mountain Chapter announced Friday that KLJ’s project, Front Street improvements, has been named the 2019 Project of the Year. The project in Helena, Montana, was a complex undertaking that was conceptualized in 2015, designed in 2017, and finished within the 2019 construction season.

KLJ’s Dana Foreman will be among the presenters at this year’s South Dakota Rural Water Annual Technical Conference next week at the Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center in Pierre, South Dakota. During his presentation on January 14 at 10:00 a.m., Foreman will address the complexities and methods of providing clean and affordable water for growing communities.

The Williston Basin International Airport officially opened Oct. 10, 2019, when an incoming flight from Minneapolis landed at the new, state-of-the-art facility.
