PROJECT
Cenex Pipeline, LLC (Cenex) planned for installation of a new 10-inch refined products pipeline that would parallel an existing eight-inch line from Glendive to Sidney, MT; then follow an entirely new alignment from Sidney, MT to Minot, ND.
SOLUTION
KLJ was hired to assist with right-of-way (ROW) procurement, crossing permits, cultural and environmental services, construction administration and landowner liaison services on the Glendive to Sidney segment.
With successful completion of the initial phase, we were retained to assist Cenex with the same services as the initial phase from Sidney to Minot, in which a majority of the pipeline was rerouted. In addition to the previous services, we also performed pipeline siting services and additional permitting necessary to site the remaining pipeline from Sidney to Minot and completed the necessary application to PSC for a siting order in which a majority of the pipeline was rerouted off the current eight-inch alignment, as well as cadastral and design survey and bore designs for the new route. KLJ completed bore designs for all HDD crossings that required a permit or landowner approval, including the Cottonwood Country Club and Golf Course and several from BNSF, Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), local irrigation canal companies, and various utility crossings.
RESULTS
The finished pipeline is expected to be complete in 2021 and will provide a safe way to transport fuels throughout the Bakken region.
