The American Public Works Association (APWA) Rocky Mountain Chapter announced Friday that KLJ’s project, Front Street improvements, has been named the 2019 Project of the Year. The project in Helena, Montana, was a complex undertaking that was conceptualized in 2015, designed in 2017, and finished within the 2019 construction season.

South Dakota Department of Transportation is hosting their annual Airports Conference March 11-12 in Rapid City to bring airport managers, staff, and consultants together with state and federal officials to exchange information and identify opportunities for continued and enhanced airport operations.

The Department of Transportation has appropriated $1 billion to be awarded for surface transportation infrastructure projects that will have significant local or regional impact (formerly known as TIGER). Special consideration will be given to projects that emphasize improved access to reliable, safe, and affordable transportation for communities in rural areas, such as projects that improve infrastructure condition, address public health and safety, promote regional connectivity, or facilitate economic growth or competitiveness.

Mike Bittner, a traffic engineer with KLJ, will provide unique insight this week at the annual Minnesota Transportation Conference held at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. The focus for this year’s conference, which is the largest transportation event in Minnesota, is “Working Together – Connecting Minnesota.” On Wednesday, March 4, Bittner will give a presentation on breaking old habits with new traffic models.

KLJ is proud to announce that three projects have recently been recognized with award recognition.

You may have heard it in a roundabout way that KLJ has a new transportation engineer in our Sioux Falls office – and it’s true! KLJ is proud to announce that Paul Knofczynski has joined our team!

KLJ’s Jeremy Larson will participate in a panel discussion on cloud switching at the Rural Broadband Association’s annual RTIME conference on February 16 in Phoenix, Arizona. During his breakout session at 10:00 a.m., he will discuss the future of telecom switching and the alternative switching platforms companies can use to maintain voice market share.

KLJ’s Dickinson office recently relocated. The Dickinson-based staff moved into the new office, located at 677 27th Ave. E., on February 7, 2020. KLJ has been part of the Dickinson, ND, community for more than 80 years.
